Sections

  • The BL section designs, builds and maintains the beam loss monitoring systems used to measure particle losses throughout the CERN accelerator complex. It is also responsible for beam diagnostics based on gaseous detectors.

  • The BP section designs, builds and maintains the beam position monitoring systems used to measure the trajectory and orbit of the particle beams throughout the CERN accelerator complex.

     

  • The EA section is responsible for all the beam instrumentation that measure the parameters of the secondary beams extracted to the SPS and PS experimental areas. It also provides the electron cooling systems for LEIR, AD and ELENA.

  • The IQ section designs, builds and maintains the instruments that allow measurement of the beam tune, chromaticity and coupling for all CERN synchrotrons. It is also responsible for beam intensity and current measurements throughout the CERN accelerator complex.

  • The ML section designs, constructs, installs and maintains the electro-mechanical components of all beam instrumentation systems in the CERN accelerator complex.

  • The PM section is responsible for the diagnostic instruments that allow the observation of the transverse and longitudinal profiles of particle beams throughout the CERN accelerator complex.

  • The SW section provides the software necessary to develop, test, diagnose and operate all beam instrumentation systems at CERN.
